The [[costCenterId]]office of SmithGroup is looking for a [[extTitle]] to join our team.

Working with us, you will:

  • Be part of a fully integrated design team working on a wide variety of projects and system types, directing the implementation of our deisgn.
  • Lead design and documentation of plumbing systems including floor plans, riser diagrams, equipment selection, scheduling, and specifications.
  • Prepare facility condition assessments and write technical reports.
  • Develop solutions to challenging plumbing issues with integrated architecture and engineering project design teams.
  • Employ sustainable design principles and document sustainable design performance.
  • Participate, where requested, in client meetings.
  • Coordinate your work with all disciplines and consultants.
  • Review submittals, RFIs, and contractor proposed change orders, and conduct site observations.
  • Provide plumbing design and leadership for projects across multiple offices.
  • Provide oversight and monitoring of the work performed by junior staff.
  • Mentor and train junior-level engineers.
  • Assist mechanical engineers on engineering tasks for a project, assuring that technical, schedule and hours-expended targets are met in accordance with client expectations and applicable professional standards.

An ideal candidate has:

  • High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or associate’s degree in Engineering Technology or related field from a technical school or college.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience with CAD/Revit and plumbing design.
  • A solid knowledge of mathematical concepts.
  • An understanding of the three-dimensional aspect of building design and CAD/BIM input.
  • The ability to communicate ideas well both graphically and verbally.
  • The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule.
  • The ability to contribute to and participate in a team environment.
  • LEED Green Associate accreditation preferred.
