The Plant Design Designer (piping) develops designs for equipment arrangements, piping layouts and pipe supports. Performs a variety of computer-based modeling, design, engineering and planning tasks on project(s). Applies standard engineering and design techniques, procedures and criteria to solve complex engineering problems.
Develop equipment arrangements utilizing vendor data and design criteria
Creates piping layouts and 3D models for complex systems independently using P&ID’s, pipe spec’s, EAs, and vendor data, along with a working knowledge of Best Piping Practice/Industry Standards, regulatory standards, codes, and design criteria.
Experience gathering field information and developing field sketches. Field work is performed at the plant and will require climbing, walking, and working in adverse weather conditions.
Capable of leading small-size projects (2-3 person teams) to meet project objectives: schedules, budgets and quality
Experience in developing piping design scopes, effort hour estimates, resource loaded schedules, vendor print reviews, and inter-discipline coordination
A minium of fifteen years experience in piping design and preparation of construction documents working within a multi-discipline engineering environment.
Primary piping experience in Refinery & Petro/Chemical industries
AutoCAD & CADWorx proficiency and experience with laser scan is required.
